Merging Existing Top Hat Accounts

Instructors and students with existing Top Hat user accounts are required to merge their TH account with their UCA Blackboard account before being allowed to sign into their TH account.

Add new screen → accessed by clicking link at bottom of the Create New Account screen ( “Log in here and merge with SSO.” )

Full User Flow: Merge Existing Top Hat Account

Instructors: Merge Existing Accounts

1. Visit tophat.com, clicks “Sign up” button 
2. Select “Educator”.
3. Educator enters email address. 
   1. If domain entered is ‘@uca.edu’, educator sees “SSO message”.
   2. If domain entered is not ‘@uca.edu’, educator enters ‘University of Central Arkansas’ in the school field and sees “SSO message”
4. Educator clicks “Log in with school account” button.
5. Educator is redirected to sign into school’s IdP account. Once user is successfully authenticated they are redirected back to Top Hat’s ‘Account Merge’ screen.
6. Educator is asked to enter Top Hat account password to verify TH account ownership
7. Educator clicks “Merge my existing account with SSO”.
8. If successfully authenticated on Top Hat, account is merged with blackboard account and redirected to Course Lobby

Students: Merge Existing Accounts

1. Visit tophat.com, clicks “Sign up” button.
2. Select “Student”.
3. Enters Join Code, if available.
   1. If course is found, click “Join this course”.
   2. If student does not have a Join Code, they will click “Search by school”

i.       User enters ‘University of Central Arkansas’ and sees “SSO message” ii.      User clicks “Log in with school account” button.

4. Student is redirected to sign into school’s LMS/Blackboard account. Once successfully authenticated they are redirected back to Top Hat’s ‘Account Merge’ screen.
5. Student is asked to enter Top Hat account password to verify TH account ownership.
6. User clicks “Merge my existing account with SSO”.
7. If successfully authenticated on Top Hat, account is merged with Blackboard account and redirected to Course Lobby.
