For site-wide defaults or to manage blocked sites, use the step-by-step methods below.
Method 1: Change Permissions via Chrome Settings
- Open Chrome and click the three dots in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Click Privacy and security on the left menu.
- Select Site settings.
- Under the Permissions section, click Camera or Microphone.
- Select Sites can ask to use your camera/microphone (Recommended), or choose Don't allow sites to use your camera/microphone.
Method 2: Unblock a Previously Blocked Site
If you previously blocked a site, you won't get a new pop-up prompt to allow access.
- Go to Chrome Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings.
- Click on Camera or Microphone.
- Scroll down to the Not allowed to use your camera/microphone list.
- Click the trash icon or Delete button next to the site you want to unblock.
- Return to the website and refresh the page.
Method 3: Check Computer/Device Permissions
If you have allowed access in Chrome but it still isn't working, your device permissions might be blocking the browser:
- Windows: Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone/Camera and ensure access is turned ON.
- macOS: Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera/Microphone and ensure Google Chrome is toggled ON.
- Mobile (Android/iOS): Open your phone's Settings > Apps > Chrome > Permissions and allow access to the camera and microphone.
